We always encourage our clients to settle disputes without litigation, and we use less costly and less time consuming mediation proceedings whenever appropriate. However, when our clients are faced with unreasonable parties and unfair agreements, we have considerable litigation experience, and we provide superior litigation services in order to protect our clients.

Mr. Thomas Steffens, the firm's founder, has been engaged in the practice of law for over thirty years in Edina, Minnesota. While specializing in the areas of commercial litigation, business law and real estate law, he has had the opportunity to successfully represent his clients in a variety of practice areas. As a successful real estate developer of a number of residential single family subdivisions as well as commercial planned unit developments, Mr. Steffens has had the occasion to interact with architects, engineers, surveyors, contractors, and bankers, gaining the insight of a participant as well as an attorney and as a result, a better understanding of clients' needs. Likewise, as a member, partner and shareholder in various business ventures throughout his legal career, he has had the benefit of experiencing being the client and representing the client. As a result of the insights gained, Mr. Steffens has a unique appreciation of and sense of what can be accomplished and how much should be spent to accomplish your legal representation goals.

Mr. Rasmussen has been practicing business law and Indian law for twenty years. Since 1989, Mr. Rasmussen has organized hundreds of businesses in the State of Minnesota and continues to provide ongoing business advice to numerous companies on a recurring basis. In addition, Mr. Rasmussen has, for the last fifteen years, served as general counsel to an Indian tribe and has had the opportunity to serve as a tribal judge in various tribal courts. Mr. Rasmussen values his longstanding relationship with his business and tribal clients. With extensive knowledge in business formation, transactional work, employment law, commercial litigation, arbitration/mediation, succession planning and tribal law, Mr. Rasmussen is able to provide sound, practical solutions to your legal issues and problem.
